On the walls are illustrations of the Sigurd saga from the Old Norse saga "Edda", a collection of sagas, songs and sayings. Sigurd corresponds to the Siegfried of the Middle High German Nibelungenlied. Marble portals open into the Throne Room on the west side and the royal apartments on the opposite side.
